Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi and actor Lee Da-in have become parents of two, welcoming their second child, a son.

According to a representative for Lee Seung-gi on the 8th, the couple welcomed their son on the 7th. Both the mother and the baby are reported to be in good health.

Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in confirmed their relationship in 2021 and got married in April 2023 after two years of public dating. They welcomed their first daughter in February 2024 and announced the pregnancy of their second child this past February.

Last month, Lee Seung-gi appeared on KBS 2TV's "Immortal Songs" and made headlines by mentioning that his wife was due to give birth in July, adding that he might not be able to participate in the King of Kings special to be with her.

Lee Seung-gi is currently preparing to meet his fans at his solo concert, "2026 Lee Seung-gi Concert - Ki-Seung-Jeon: Rak", which will be held this October for the first time in 13 years.

Actor Song Jin-woo and his Japanese wife, Minami, are joining the cast of "You're my destiny", promising to share an incredibly spicy look into their married life.

At the end of the July 7th episode of the SBS variety show "You're my destiny", a teaser was released announcing the arrival of 19-year veteran actor Song Jin-woo and his wife, Minami, drawing immediate attention.

In the short preview, Song Jin-woo shocked the studio from the very start by launching into a series of unfiltered revelations about his wife. He described her by saying, "I thought she was an action star. She does a lot of action," exposing her unexpected and intense side.

In particular, Song Jin-woo stunned the cast by claiming, "She has slapped my face and even ripped my underwear." Far from being embarrassed, Minami proudly responded, "If you wear them, the bottom is gone. I've done it several times," sending the studio into fits of laughter.

Now in their 12th year of marriage, the daily life of this international couple proved to be a spectacle in itself. Song Jin-woo hinted at their unique relationship, saying, "We have a sort of competition between us, a battle of laughter. Sometimes, there is a Korea-Japan match happening right inside our home." The South Korean box office saw a significant surge in attendance during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. Hits such as "Once We Were Us", "The King's Warden", "Salmokji: Whispering Water", and "COLONY" have driven a substantial increase in both ticket sales and revenue.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, the number of moviegoers for Korean films from January to June reached approximately 37.369 million, a 74.9% jump from the 21.363 million recorded during the same period last year. Revenue also rose by 81.7% year-on-year, totaling 370.2 billion KRW.

Although the total number of films released was 217, a slight decrease from the 240 films released last year, these results were achieved thanks to several major hits that led the market.

In fact, while only one film surpassed 5 million viewers in the first half of last year—"F1: The Movie" with 5.21 million—this year, "The King's Warden" garnered a massive 16.9 million viewers based on strong word-of-mouth, becoming the second highest-grossing Korean film of all time. It was followed by director Yeon Sang-ho's zombie blockbuster "COLONY", which successfully kept the momentum going by surpassing 5 million viewers.

Attention is now focused on whether the revival of the box office in the first half will continue into the second half. The frontrunner expected to lead this charge is director Na Hong-jin's "HOPE", set to be released on the 15th. The film is a massive project with a production budget nearing 70 billion KRW, featuring top Korean actors such as Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Hoyeon, alongside Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander.

Before its release, the film was invited to the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival, where it received acclaim from international critics and media. The high expectations of audiences have already been proven, as it ranked first in both pre-sale rates and ticket volume 10 days before its release.

Following the first distribution of 6,000 KRW movie discount coupons in May, the government and the Korean Film Council began distributing an additional 2.05 million coupons starting today (the 8th). In the week immediately following the first distribution, revenue reached 15.9 billion KRW, a 47.9% increase from the 10.7 billion KRW recorded in the week prior. Given that the second round of discount coupons is being released in July, the peak season for theaters, it is expected to bring tremendous vitality to the summer box office.

Starting with "HOPE", a series of films including "Moana", "Minions & Monsters", "Spider-Man: Brand New Day", and "Odyssey" are scheduled for release throughout July and August. These films also carry the strength of their own established brands. Combined with the effect of the discount coupons, the box office this summer is expected to see a major boom.

"High Valley, Top Hero" is returning with even more content, thanks to the overwhelming support from viewers.

On July 8, SBS announced that it has decided to extend "High Valley, Top Hero" by one episode, expanding the original 6-episode run to a total of 7 episodes.

"High Valley, Top Hero" is a healing variety show that captures the unscripted and pure life of singer LIM YOUNGWOONG as he enjoys his time in the mountains with his friends. Since its premiere, the show has instantly captured both viewership ratings and buzz, maintaining a solid lead as the number one Tuesday variety show for three consecutive weeks in the 2049 demographic, a key metric for broadcasters. In particular, the show proved its strong and loyal viewership base as its peak minute-by-minute rating soared to 6.5%.

This craze has extended beyond television, sweeping across digital platforms and the OTT market. Immediately after airing, it climbed to the top ranks of Netflix's Top 10 Series in South Korea, peaking at number 4. Furthermore, according to the FUNdex report by Good Data Corporation, an agency specializing in K-content competitiveness analysis, LIM YOUNGWOONG ranked 2nd in the non-drama performer buzz category, demonstrating his massive influence both online and offline.

The secret to the show's popularity lies in the candid and harmless daily life of LIM YOUNGWOONG off-stage, which has never been seen before, and his natural chemistry with the close friends who visit his mountain house. Analysts suggest that the uncalculated, natural laughter and warm healing have resonated deeply with viewers.

The production team stated, "Thanks to the passionate support sent by our viewers, we were able to extend the show by one episode," adding, "We plan to densely pack the remaining episodes with various stories unfolding in the mountains, so please look forward to it and show your interest until the very end."

With its extension to 7 episodes, "High Valley, Top Hero" will deliver even more entertainment with the appearance of more powerful guests. Starting next week, Kwak Beom, Nucksal, and Roy Kim will join the show to kick off the second act of this energetic and wild mountain life. Additionally, the show has teased the appearance of veteran actor Cha Seung-won, who formed a bond with LIM YOUNGWOONG through the popular variety series "Three Meals a Day", and rising star actor Kim Do-hoon, raising expectations among prospective viewers to the highest level.

PA Entertainment, the agency representing actors such as Jung Woong-in and Park Hae-mi, is undergoing closure procedures following the passing of its CEO.

On July 7, PA Entertainment announced through its official social media channels, "CEO Yoon Sung-eun has passed away due to a chronic illness." The agency added, "We have decided to cease all management operations and proceed with closure procedures following internal discussions."

The agency further stated, "We sincerely thank everyone who has been with PA Entertainment during this time," and asked for "kind understanding regarding the concern caused by this sudden news."

Established in 2018, PA Entertainment was a comprehensive entertainment company that managed actors and singers while also overseeing music production and concert planning.

The agency had been home to actors including Jung Woong-in, Park Hae-mi, Kim Jung-tae, Song Seon-mi, and Oh Seung-ah. Recently, it had continued its business operations by signing exclusive contracts with SEOWON, a former contestant of the audition program 'Boys Planet', and CHUNJI, a member of the group TEEN TOP.

As news of the sudden passing of CEO Yoon Sung-eun and the subsequent closure of the agency broke, voices of sorrow and condolences have been pouring in from within and outside the entertainment industry.

Actor Cho Seung-woo, returning to the small screen after three years, is set to showcase a bold transformation as a lonely, charismatic King.

On the morning of the 8th, a press conference for the new Netflix original series "The East Palace" (written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, directed by Choi Jeong-gyu) was held at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Choi Jeong-gyu and lead actors Cho Seung-woo, Nam Joohyuk, and Roh Yoonseo, who shared various stories about the production.

"The East Palace" is a mystery thriller occult historical drama that follows Gu-cheon (played by Nam Joohyuk), a ghost hunter with the special ability to freely traverse the world of spirits, and Saeng-gang (played by Roh Yoonseo), a palace inspector harboring deep secrets. The two are summoned by the King (played by Cho Seung-woo) to uncover the truth behind a cruel curse haunting "The East Palace".

Cho Seung-woo, making his return to television for the first time since "Divorce Attorney Shin", plays a rational King who believes ghosts and curses are nothing more than superstition. However, as the crown princes die one by one and his only surviving young son, Prince Yeongan, faces a life-threatening situation, the King summons the ghost hunter Gu-cheon to the palace, placing himself at the center of a massive whirlpool of events.

Regarding his role, Cho Seung-woo remarked, "The role offered to me was simply titled 'King' without even a name. I thought, 'Oh, I guess I can play a King.'" He continued, "When I read the script, I saw that various elements were blended very well, and the tense relationship between the Queen Dowager, played by Jang Young-nam, and the King was captivating. It was a perfect mix of drama, occult, action, and fantasy."

He added, "Above all, when I heard the casting lineup—Nam Joohyuk, Roh Yoonseo, and Jang Young-nam—there was no reason not to do it. I thought it wouldn't be bad to just ride the coattails of these trendy actors," drawing laughter from the room with his signature wit.

This project holds special significance for Cho Seung-woo, as it marks his third collaboration with director Choi Jeong-gyu, with whom he previously worked on the mega-hit drama "The King's Doctor." Cho shared a humorous behind-the-scenes story: "The director usually calls me by saying, 'Has the King arrived?' in a friendly and witty way, and it was so nice to hear that again after a long time. Since we are the same age, we have a lot in common, but I pestered him day and night with phone calls because I was worried about my character. I heard later that whenever he finished a call with me, he would sigh and go out for a cigarette."

Director Choi Jeong-gyu also expressed his deep trust in Cho Seung-woo. "It was my dream to work with Cho Seung-woo again," he said. "The King in this story is a character with many secrets. He knows many of the palace's hidden truths and has to endure them, and I thought the actor Cho Seung-woo was a perfect fit for the concept of 'secrets,' which is why I sent him the offer."

After pouring his energy into the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" and the play "Hamlet", Cho Seung-woo jumped straight into filming for "The East Palace". This marks his first-ever Netflix original series. "I am very happy to meet global fans directly through an original series for the first time," he said, expressing his confidence. "It will be a project that offers a unique kind of fun to viewers both at home and abroad."

"The East Palace" consists of 8 episodes and will be released simultaneously to viewers worldwide on Netflix on the 17th at 5:00 PM.

Lee Hyun, known as the first artist of Big Hit, has renewed his contract with Big Hit Music, extending a partnership that has spanned 19 years.

On July 8, Big Hit Music announced, "We have signed a contract renewal with Lee Hyun. It is highly meaningful to continue our journey with an artist who has been with the company since its early days. Based on the trust built over the past 19 years, we plan to actively support Lee Hyun's future activities."

Lee Hyun shared his thoughts, saying, "I have renewed my contract with Big Hit Music, which is my musical home and most reliable partner. As it has been until now, our decision is based on deep trust and mutual respect." He added, "I want to show fans who have been waiting for my music more frequent and active performances. I will become a singer who constantly communicates through music."

Lee Hyun is recognized as the first artist of Big Hit, having started his trainee life when Big Hit Entertainment was first established in 2005.

He first formed a connection with Chairman Bang Si-hyuk when he worked on guide recordings and chorus sessions during Bang's time as a producer at JYP Entertainment, eventually growing into Big Hit's first artist. He debuted in 2007 as the leader of the co-ed group 8eight, and in 2010, he formed the duo Homme with Lee Chang-min of 2AM, achieving a hit with "I Was Able to Eat Well." He also received much love for his solo track "You Are the Best of My Life." In 2023, Lee Hyun released the digital single "Masquerade" through his alter ego project, MIDNATT.

OMEGA X member HWICHAN was moved to tears as he reflected on the scars of his nearly 20-year journey as a trainee, following words of comfort from a shaman.

On the SBS Plus reality program "Syndrome", which aired at midnight on July 7, the members of OMEGA X met with a shaman to have their fortunes and energy read.

During the session, the shaman told HWICHAN, "At some point, you started thinking, 'Why is it so hard for me?' and 'Why do I have to live such a difficult life?' You have been through an exceptionally tough time since you were young, and you have lived with a lot of worry and insecurity."

Upon hearing these words, HWICHAN began to cry. Fellow member XEN shared, "He has been living alone in Seoul since he was 12 and has faced many hardships." Seeing HWICHAN in tears, members JAEHAN and KEVIN also became emotional and expressed their sympathy.

HWICHAN confessed, "It was truly very difficult. I moved to Seoul at 12 and started living in a dorm as a trainee. If you include my trainee years, it has been nearly 20 years. I endured that time, but life didn't go as planned. Bad things kept happening one after another, and I often wondered, 'Why does this only happen to me?' I think that is why I held on so desperately."

The shaman also noted that HWICHAN had a desire to pursue musical theater and acting. HWICHAN responded with surprise, mentioning, "I actually couldn't do a musical once because of my military enlistment." When the shaman added, "You injured your back when you were young, and the aftereffects still remain," HWICHAN explained, "I was originally a trainee for instruments, but while transitioning to dance, I injured my back and knees, and I still have issues with them from time to time."

In an interview, HWICHAN shared his heartfelt feelings, saying, "The teacher's words were a great comfort. It brought back memories of how hard I have struggled for such a long time." The shaman offered final encouragement, saying, "This is just the beginning. The difficult times are all behind you, and good fortune will start coming your way from next year."

Meanwhile, HWICHAN was accused of indecent assault by the CEO of his former agency last year, but the prosecution dropped the case due to insufficient evidence. Subsequently, the accuser's appeal and request for a judicial review of the non-indictment decision were both dismissed, legally clearing him of the charges.

"Syndrome" is a reality show that explores the mysteries of life—intertwined with people, spaces, ancestors, descendants, taboos, and reality—through the eyes of a shaman, highlighting the stories of various clients and guests.

Actor Roh Yoonseo is ready to captivate global audiences as she takes on her first-ever historical drama and occult genre project.

On the morning of July 8, a press conference for the new Netflix original series "The East Palace" was held at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Choi Jeong-gyu and lead actors Cho Seung-woo, Nam Joohyuk, and Roh Yoonseo, who shared various stories about the production.

"The East Palace" is a mystery thriller occult historical drama that follows Gu-cheon (played by Nam Joohyuk), a ghost hunter with the unique ability to freely traverse the world of spirits, and Saeng-gang (played by Roh Yoonseo), a palace inspector who can hear the voices of ghosts. The two are summoned by the King (played by Cho Seung-woo) to uncover the truth behind a cruel curse haunting "The East Palace".

In the series, Roh Yoonseo leads the narrative as Saeng-gang, a special palace inspector with extraordinary spiritual abilities. Tasked by the King to secretly monitor Gu-cheon, she tracks down strange incidents one by one to break the mysterious curse plaguing the palace.

Recalling the moment she first encountered the script, Roh Yoonseo said, "The genre of a historical fantasy was very unfamiliar and new to me." She continued, "Looking at the story itself, there were many elements that stimulated my imagination, wondering how this grand narrative would be realized. I was particularly drawn to Saeng-gang’s active and progressive nature. Although it was a challenging long-form drama for me, I decided to take on the challenge with a positive mindset, knowing I would learn a lot from the experience."

She also opened up about the difficulties of her first historical drama set. "Honestly, it was a bit difficult at first to maintain proper vocal projection and an upright posture at all times. My body felt stiff, but it gradually became more natural over time," she added. "My mindset was to not be a burden on set. Since there were many experienced senior actors, I asked a lot of questions and learned from them to pick up tips."

The highlight of this series is the peculiar chemistry between Saeng-gang, who exists in the real world, and Gu-cheon, who traverses the spirit world. Regarding this, Roh Yoonseo teased their intense relationship, saying, "When they first met, the two characters had lived completely different lives, so they really disliked each other. However, as they work to uncover the curse, they gradually come to rely on each other. After surviving dangerous moments where they couldn't do without one another, they eventually become 'noble helpers' to each other by the end. The chemistry between them as they move between the real world and the spirit world will be very impressive and entertaining."

Director Choi Jeong-gyu also praised Roh Yoonseo’s acting transformation. "The greatest weapon that actor Roh Yoonseo possesses is her natural and honest acting. That charm met the character of Saeng-gang and blended perfectly into our work," he said, sparing no praise.

Actor Nam Joohyuk has promised a performance of intense dedication in his first project since being discharged from the military, the new Netflix original series "The East Palace".

On the morning of July 8, a press conference for "The East Palace" (written by Kwon Sora and Seo Jaewon, directed by Choi Jung-kyu) was held at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Director Choi Jung-kyu and lead actors Cho Seung-woo, Nam Joohyuk, and Roh Yoonseo attended the event to share various stories about the production.

Nam Joohyuk, who watched the release of his previous project "Vigilante" while serving in the military, chose "The East Palace" as his comeback project. His character, Gucheon, is a mysterious figure who hunts ghosts while traversing the real world and the spirit realm. Due to the deep trauma of losing his mother at a young age, he is awkward at expressing emotions and always wary of others, but he enters the palace to track down the truth behind the Pond Ghost that has been killing crown princes under the King's orders.

Regarding his decision to join the project, Nam Joohyuk said, "I first received this script while I was in the military." He continued, "The military is a space where you can let your imagination run wild. As I read the script there, a desire to take on the challenge surged within me. I was curious about how the world of spirits would be depicted, and the mystery-filled plot was so intriguing that I thought, 'I can give my all to create the character of Gucheon.'"

As he was returning to the set after a long time, he felt a heavy sense of responsibility. Nam Joohyuk added, "I started filming right after my discharge, and the sense of responsibility was immense. I was determined to work hard and not be a burden to the production. With such wonderful senior actors by my side to keep things grounded, I also tried my best to help create an enjoyable and great set."

Director Choi Jung-kyu expressed his deep trust in the actor, saying, "From the moment I first saw him, I thought he was Gucheon." The director revealed the casting story, stating, "He seemed very reliable and strong-willed, but the deep loneliness that occasionally flickered in his eyes matched the narrative of Gucheon perfectly."

Nam Joohyuk's dedication to mastering authentic occult action was also confirmed by those on set. Stating that "practice was the only answer," Nam Joohyuk mentioned that he practically lived at an action school. "Because of that, it became second nature, and I was able to perform the action scenes more freely on set," he said.

He also shared behind-the-scenes stories about the numerous underwater shoots. While Nam Joohyuk calmly remarked, "It was difficult because I had to go into the water so often, from the sweltering summer to the middle of winter, but I am grateful that the scenes turned out well," his co-star Cho Seung-woo added a vivid account. Cho Seung-woo praised his junior's passion, saying, "Joohyuk went into the water so much that he developed a skin condition from it. I coined the term 'water rash' myself. I saw his arm, and it was to the point where you could write on it by scratching it."

Actor Oh Yoon-ah has expressed her gratitude to those who congratulated her on building a warm and loving family.

On the 7th, Oh shared a message on her social media, saying, "I sincerely thank you for all the congratulations. I will live beautifully with an even more grateful heart." She added, "Our entire family is so happy and joyful thanks to your warm support and well-wishes. Thank you all so, so much."

Previously, Oh first announced her remarriage through her YouTube channel. At the time, she opened up about why she had found it difficult to decide on remarriage, stating, "I raised my child alone for a long time, and my child was the biggest priority in my life."

She continued, "I thought I would live that way forever, but I met a truly wonderful person and decided to get married. My husband and his family embraced Min as if he were their own son. I believe this would not have been possible if it weren't fate." She added that as they kept crossing paths whenever she prayed, she became convinced that he was the one. Above all, she revealed that the greatest source of strength was how naturally her husband accepted her child.
