The thriller film "Sapiens," starring actor Jung Sung-il, has been officially invited to the Korean Cinema Today - Special Premiere section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival.

"Sapiens" is a mystery thriller in which Na Do-han (Jung Sung-il), the prime suspect in the kidnapping case of a missing third-generation chaebol, and Seo Hee-jae (Yoo Jae-myung), a chaebol lawyer who must cover up the case, join hands to track down the hidden true culprit. It is the feature film debut of director Lee Ho-bin, who previously directed "No Way Out: The Roulette" (2024).

Jung Sung-il, who received great love from viewers through "The Glory" (2022) and "Made in Korea" (2025), is attending the Busan International Film Festival with "Sapiens," marking his second starring role following "Murderer's Report" and his first solo starring film.

In this work, Jung Sung-il plays Na Do-han, a suspect who has no memory of the time of the incident. He portrays multiple roles by shifting between personalities with different genders, ages, and personalities, raising expectations for his diverse acting transformation.

Yoo Jae-myung takes on the role of Seo Hee-jae, the head of the legal team at Sanghyun Construction who must conceal the case, working together with Jung Sung-il for the first time. As a dedicated lawyer for the chaebol family who must single out the true culprit from among Na Do-han's various faces, he anticipates a tense acting showdown.

Although "Sapiens" is scheduled for theatrical release in 2027, it will meet audiences first through its premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. The director and actors are also expected to visit Busan during the film festival period.

The 31st Busan International Film Festival will run from Tuesday, October 6 to Thursday, October 15 around the Busan Cinema Center area.

Actor Jeon Do-yeon expressed her deep trust and respect for Director Lee Chang-dong, whom she is reuniting with for the first time in 20 years since the 2007 film "Secret Sunshine".

Attending the press conference for the movie "Possible Love" held at Hotel Naru Seoul M Gallery on the morning of the 25th, Jeon Do-yeon shared her thoughts on working with Director Lee again, saying, "So much time has passed, but it didn't feel that way at all. It felt like just yesterday." The two previously worked together on the 2006 film "Secret Sunshine", through which Jeon Do-yeon became the first Korean actor to win the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Describing her character as the wife of a dismissed worker, Jeon Do-yeon said, "She wants to enjoy peaceful times, but a certain incident occurs. Because of that, she lives with a ticking time bomb, never knowing when the anger inside her husband's chest might explode." She added, "At the same time, she is a character who doesn't let go of the thread of hope—someone who looks fragile but is fiercely strong."

She also mentioned her approach to preparing for a film by Director Lee. Jeon Do-yeon stated, "When working on the director's films, rather than doing specific preparations, it's more important to see how open-minded you can be. Knowing that he wouldn't accept a fabricated character that isn't genuine, my mindset was to keep my heart and thoughts as open as possible."

Regarding her on-screen chemistry with Sul Kyung-gu, whom she is working with for the third time following "I Wish I Had a Wife" and "Birthday", she hinted, "We have known each other for a long time and share a deep trust and belief in one another, so I think it will create truly realistic married couple chemistry."

Sul Kyung-gu, who plays a dismissed worker in the film, described his character by saying, "As a dismissed worker, he carries a sense of guilt, anger, and shame. He is someone enduring day by day with various emotions mixed together." He added, "Rather than preparing through acting, it was a set where I needed to empty myself. All I had to do was step into the story of the set."

Sul Kyung-gu has collaborated with Director Lee Chang-dong on a total of three films, including "Peppermint Candy", "Oasis", and "Possible Love". Mentioning "Peppermint Candy", which served as his breakout and signature work, he shared, "Wondering if the mindset from back then was good, I wanted to return to that initial mindset. I found myself intentionally trying to listen better and go back to how I felt at the very beginning."

"Possible Love" follows the story of two couples—a dismissed worker and his wife, and a documentary director and her husband—who meet to produce a documentary and confront their different lives and hidden desires. The film stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong.

As Director Lee Chang-dong's first Netflix film, "Possible Love" will first premiere in theaters on September 23 before meeting global viewers on November 6.

The film "The Journey to Gyeongju" has started its run at No. 3 at the box office.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing computer network on the 27th, "The Journey to Gyeongju" attracted 36,796 viewers nationwide on its opening day, the 26th, landing at No. 3 at the box office.

While "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" have dominated theaters for about a month, "The Journey to Gyeongju" attracted the highest audience among Korean films upon its release, but it fell short of surpassing the two blockbuster hits.

"The Odyssey" defended its No. 1 spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks, surpassing a cumulative audience of 7.65 million. It is showing strong momentum by gathering 190,000 viewers even on weekdays in its fourth week. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has seen its momentum slow down as it entered its fifth week of release, but it is showing lingering strength by gathering over 40,000 viewers. Its cumulative audience has surpassed 8.26 million.

"The Journey to Gyeongju" is a family revenge drama about four mothers and daughters who go on a fatal journey after eight years of waiting for the youngest daughter, Gyeongju, who never returned from a school trip. Lee Jung-eun, Kong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, and Lee Yeon star in the film, while Byun Yohan made a special appearance.

SBS variety show "Kick a Goal" is expanding its universe beyond soccer to take on handball.

According to a teaser released on August 26, the "Kick a Goal Handball Cup" will premiere on September 2. This special project was organized to cheer on the women's national handball team at the Asian Games and will air across a total of four episodes.

Caster Bae Seong-jae announced the new start by saying, "'Kick a Goal', which sparked a women's soccer boom in South Korea, is now taking on handball." After experiencing a handball match, the players expressed their astonishment at the unexpectedly rough and fast-paced nature of the sport, commenting, "It was so fierce," "The physical contact is about three times worse than soccer," and "It is the UFC of ball sports."

Amid vivid commentary by caster Bae Seong-jae and analyst Park Joong-gyu, former basketball player Lee Hye-jung, Seogi, and Mashima showcased a contrasting style of play different from soccer, foreshadowing the birth of new aces.

A star-studded lineup of legends also draws attention. Yoon Kyung-shin, known as the "god of handball," and Lee Sang-eun, the real-life model for the film "Forever the Moment", will step up as managers to compete. They are joined by handball stars such as Park Ha-yan, Bae Min-hee, Kim On-ah, and Shim Hae-bok, adding professional expertise.

The five main stars of the drama "Love in the Moonlight"—Park Bo-gum, Kim Yoo-jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin, and Kwak Dong-yeon—have gathered in one place to mark the 10th anniversary of the show's broadcast.

Fashion magazine Elle revealed on the 27th a September special edition cover and interview featuring the five actors to celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Love in the Moonlight." Dressed in traditional hanbok at a traditional Korean house for the first time in a long while, they recreated a scene of youth from 10 years ago.

Aired in 2016, the KBS drama "Love in the Moonlight" received great love for delicately portraying beautiful hanbok, Korean scenery, and the love and growth of youth of that era.

Park Bo-gum, who played Crown Prince Lee Yeong, shared his thoughts on the joyful reunion, saying, "Everyone looks just the same as when we first met. I am truly happy to wear hanbok again and capture how we look now. Even the weather is similar to when we were filming back then. Back then too, whenever we got together, the laughter never stopped." He continued, "It is an honor that people still remember the characters names in the work even after 10 years have passed," expressing his affectionate feelings to his colleagues by saying, "Thanks to you, my youth, our youth was able to shine brightly. I hope all of us will always shine brightly like the moonlight."

Kim Yoo-jung, who played Hong Ra-on at the young age of seventeen, showed her affection, saying, "The name 'Ra-on' itself is a pure Korean word meaning 'joyful.' Like her name, she was a character who shared warm affection with people, and the feelings I felt through Ra-on were also a warm affection that welled up from deep inside."

Expressing that 10 years later, "a genuine strength has grown," Kim Yoo-jung said, "I have gained the courage to face difficult situations more actively when they arise, and the courage to willingly move forward." She added, "I want to tell our past selves that we don't need to look too far ahead and be impatient."

Jinyoung told his colleagues with whom he has maintained a connection over the past 10 years, "At first, we met for work, but it is not easy to stay in touch, share each other's things, and support one another for 10 years. I am happy that we ultimately pulled that off," promising a future by saying, "Let's go on for a long, long time."

Chae Soo-bin, who played Jo Ha-yeon—a bold character in front of love—shared that 10 years later, she actually draws courage from her character, saying, "I feel like I always worked hard without big worries, but looking back, I was always anxious. After it passes, it's nothing, so I just want to tell myself that I am doing well."

Kwak Dong-yeon, who recently enlisted in the military, expressed his regret about his fiercely driven twenties, saying, "I think I rather constrained myself. If I had done it with a bit more confidence, I could have shown various other sides." He left a witty greeting to his colleagues, saying, "Since I will be faithfully guarding the country until early 2028, don't worry and please pursue your dreams to your heart's content."

Actor Lee Jung-eun is taking on her first full-scale action role since her debut.

On August 26, Netflix announced that Lee Jung-eun, Kim Mu-yeol, Huh Joon-ho, Choi Sung-eun, Bae Na-ra, Seo Hyun-woo, and Moon Jong-won will star in the series "Halmae" (romanization).

"Halmae" is a noir action drama depicting the desperate revenge of Jeong Sook-ja, who picks up a gun for her grandson, and Seo Yeon-woo, who awakens her hunting instinct, as they stand against the criminal organization Cheonghwa Group.

"Halmae" stands out with its unique and fresh premise of a woman in her 70s living an ordinary life who sets out to avenge her grandson, alongside an unpredictable, twisting plot that unravels the secrets of the criminal syndicate targeted for revenge. From the subtle dynamic between Jeong Sook-ja and Seo Yeon-woo as partners in revenge to the complex narratives of characters intertwined with the Cheonghwa Group, the series delivers a distinct level of immersion and tension. Director Lee Kwon, who crafted a stylish and sensory action thriller through "A Shop for Killers", is at the helm.

Lee Jung-eun is set to deliver a passionate performance as Jeong Sook-ja, who takes up a gun for revenge to save her grandson. Her life turns 180 degrees when her grandson, whom she raised alone while running a restaurant, suddenly falls victim to a mysterious attack and is pushed to the brink of life and death. Consequently, Jeong Sook-ja decides to pick up a gun again for the first time in decades since her youth and take matters into her own hands for revenge. Anticipation is high for Lee Jung-eun's first challenge in action acting.

Kim Mu-yeol plays Seo Yeon-woo, Jeong Sook-ja's helper and the mastermind behind the revenge. He approaches Jeong Sook-ja, who is boiling with grief and anger, reveals the connection between her grandson's accident and the Cheonghwa Group, and awakens her hunting instinct. While he helps with her revenge using exceptional intelligence and keen judgment, he is also a mysterious figure who seems to harbor different motives.

Kim Mu-yeol, who recently renewed his best work and character through the globally successful Netflix series "Teach You a Lesson", is set to showcase even heavier action through this project. In addition, expectations are growing for his chemistry with Lee Jung-eun, reuniting four years after "Juvenile Justice".

Huh Joon-ho, who radiates intense charisma and unrivaled presence, takes on the role of Jang Kwang-chul, a former Heukseong faction boss and the current chairman of the Cheonghwa Group.

JOOE of the group MOMOLAND, has made her debut as a musical actor.

JOOE stepped onto the stage for her first performance in the musical "Caffeine" at The Good Theater in Seoul on August 21, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The musical "Caffeine" is a two-person show depicting a delightful and sweet romance between Se-jin, a morning barista, and Ji-min, an evening sommelier, set in a cafe named "Love is..." where coffee and wine coexist. In the play, JOOE takes on the role of Se-jin, a bright and confident manager and barista who leaves a message about love every morning.

JOOE led the atmosphere of the show with her signature witty expressions and lovely character portrayal. In particular, despite it being a two-person show where only two actors must carry the entire production, she proved her potential as a musical actor by showcasing clear vocals and stable breath control.

After finishing her first performance, JOOE shared her thoughts through her agency, saying, "I am so happy to have successfully put on my first performance as Se-jin in the musical 'Caffeine.' I truly want to thank all the staff and fellow actors who helped me until the show went up."

Debuting as a member of the group MOMOLAND in 2016, JOOE made a name for herself with hit songs like "BBoom BBoom" and "BAAM," and has since been loved for her unique bright energy and honesty while active in various variety shows.

"We will be together until our 60th anniversary. You will come to our dinner show with us, right?" (JAE YOON)

Group SF9, who debuted in 2016, has already reached their 10th anniversary. Reorganized as an 8-member group, SF9 released their second full-length album "TENACITY" and shared their determination, saying, "We wanted to show just how strong our will and ambition are through our music."

During the press showcase for their second full-length album "TENACITY" held at 2 PM on the 26th in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, HWI YOUNG gave credit to the fandom, stating, "The number one contributors who allowed us to carry out idol activities for 10 years, which might just be a dream for someone, are our fans." CHA NI also expressed disbelief, saying, "People around us kept saying it is our 10th anniversary, but it hasn't really sunk in so it still feels like we are in our 5th year."

The new full-length album "TENACITY" was named to convey the meanings of "perseverance, tenacity, and indomitable will." The title track "Without Wings" is a song that intuitively captures SF9's story of soaring again beyond limits, featuring an Afrobeats-based pop genre that harmonizes rhythmic grooves with sophisticated pop sounds. Cheerful percussion, addictive hooks, and dynamic vocal progression maximize the song's energy. In addition, the album includes tracks such as "PRESSURE," which captures a narrative of starting from the bottom and proving oneself, and Y2K-sensitivity dance-pop genre songs "One More Kiss" and "Curtain Call."

Regarding the songwriting process, HWI YOUNG revealed, "When working on the title track, I tried to incorporate a lot of hope to match the title and concept." CHA NI said, "When writing lyrics, I try to include my own stories, but when I lack experience, I fill it in through movies or dramas." YOUNG BIN shared, "When writing lyrics or making music, I care most about what people can relate to. I have the desire to do well, but I think the most important thing is empathy."

When asked about the most memorable moments over the past 10 years, DA WON picked taking first place with "Good Guy," the title track of their first full-length album released in January 2020. DA WON recalled, "Winning first place on a music program is the wish of everyone who debuts. Even looking back at it again, my heart beats fast and it feels great." HWI YOUNG laughed and said, "Today. And when we played mafia games in the dorms during our trainee days. We couldn't use our phones so we played analog-style and stayed up all night, and I hope a day like that can come again."

They also spoke honestly about various moments of crisis. YOUNG BIN emphasized their close bond, saying, "There are always worries that cannot be shared publicly. Sometimes our attitude toward music changes, and the members always seemed to be right by my side when that happened. When HWI YOUNG had a slump in songwriting, he asked the members for advice. Looking back, there is nobody except the members. It feels like we don't even have many friends outside."

In particular, YOUNG BIN mentioned communication with members ZU HO and YOO TAE YANG, who are currently serving in the military. He added, "Although they are not here, the members sent me KakaoTalk messages saying, 'We will be watching closely.' Contact isn't always easy, but a single message like that gives me a lot of strength. Even when we don't contact each other, we always cheer each other on in our hearts, and I hope everyone manages well in their respective places."

As for what has changed, YOUNG BIN chose "flexibility." He explained with a smile, "Not being stubborn while establishing the direction for this team—that flexibility has changed the most. In our early debut days, we used to fight a lot over things like 'I am going to wash first' or 'I am going to eat first,'" and emphasized, "Courage, perseverance, tenacity, and Fantasy [the fandom name] who loves us are the secrets to how we keep going."

DA WON also confessed that "thirst" was the driving force behind his growth. He added, "You cannot help but pay attention to results or the scale of performances, but frankly, I am not fully satisfied. Whether it's music, musicals, or acting, all the members are good at many things and have a lot of healthy ambition, but we haven't achieved everything yet. I think there was a thirst in those areas, which is probably why I've been able to stay until now."

IN SEONG explained the goals for this album with his witty talk. He joked, "Our goal is to win first place on a music show. If there is one more thing, I want to take first place in the hearts of the reporters here. Your 'likes' give us great strength," and expressed his ambition, saying, "I understand that the Wimbledon venue holds about 50,000 people, and someday I want to hold an SF9 concert there."

SF9 will release all tracks of their second full-length album "TENACITY" and the music video for the title track "Without Wings" through various music sites at 6 PM on the 26th. Following the album release, they plan to meet fans by holding their 10th-anniversary concert on October 10-11 at the KBS Arena in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

SBS "Tails of Tales" is set to uncover the truth behind the Gwangju Complex Incident, which was once surrounded by shocking rumors of cannibalism.

Airings on the 27th, "Tails of Tales" will present an episode titled "Shadow City - The 1971 Gwangju Complex Incident," featuring singer and actor Nam Gyu-ri, actor Yoon Byung-hee, and Lee Kwang-ki as listeners to look back at the history of the first large-scale urban poor protest shouting for the right to survival.

Director Lee Chang-dong's new film "Possible Love", his first in eight years, has released its first trailer ahead of its premieres at international film festivals.

"Possible Love" has received official invitations to the competition sections of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, and the Main Slate section of the 64th New York Film Festival. It was also invited to the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the 74th San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Gala Premiere section of the 22nd Zurich Film Festival, and the Special Presentations section of the 45th Vancouver International Film Festival.

Director Lee Chang-dong was first invited to the San Sebastian film festival in 2010 with "Poetry", and later featured in the same section in 2022 with his short film "Heartbeat". Meanwhile, the Gala Premiere section of the Zurich Film Festival and the Special Presentations section of the Vancouver International Film Festival showcase this year's most anticipated and talked-about highly anticipated works.

Revealing another layer through its first trailer, "Possible Love" tells the story of two couples—a laid-off worker and her husband, and a documentary director and her husband—who meet to produce a documentary and face each other's different lives and hidden desires.

The trailer begins with Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) walking alone and unsteadily through a lush forest path amid the bluish dawn light, accompanied by birdsong and wind. Heard over her complex and inscrutable expression, Mi-ok's words, "It felt strange. It felt like I became a different person," connect with Mi-ok finally bursting into tears in a car heading to an unknown destination when Ho-suk (Sul Kyung-gu) tells her, "If you want to cry, cry," raising curiosity about their story.

The sight of Mi-ok sitting in front of the documentary camera of Yeji's (Cho Yeo-jeong) filming team and recalling the general strike of workers by saying, "When the strike started, I didn't know it would turn out like this," alongside Ho-suk listening silently, offers a glimpse of the time the two have endured together and the scars that have not easily healed.

The scene where Yeji cautiously proposes an interview to Ho-suk and Mi-ok says he will not do it reveals the subtle distance between the two people who seem close yet hard to approach, heightening curiosity about what kind of story will unfold before them.

Subsequently, Yeji's line telling her husband Sang-u (Zo In-sung), "I'm trying to love those people. I'm someone who makes documentaries," stimulates curiosity about how she will seep into the lives of Mi-ok and Ho-suk. However, shortly after the four of them—Mi-ok, Ho-suk, Sang-u, and Yeji—gather together to share a cheerful meal, Sang-u's remark, "You and those people are different, aren't you?" highlights the gap that exists between the two couples.

The sight of the four people ultimately leaving for a summer vacation together at Yeji's suggestion hints at the different lives and desires they will confront there, heightening anticipation for Director Lee Chang-dong's new story, which is capturing the attention of the entire world, as well as the acting ensemble of Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong.

"Possible Love" will be released in theaters on September 23 and via Netflix on November 6.

Actor Hong Min-gi has taken legal action against his ex-girlfriend, referred to as A, who has previously made allegations including dating violence and pressure to undergo an abortion.

On August 27, his agency, Fable Company, stated, "Regarding a series of recent actions by A, Hong Min-gi filed a criminal complaint with investigative authorities on August 21 and August 24 against A for forgery of private documents, attempted extortion, defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc., and violation of the Act on Punishments, etc. of Stalking Crimes."

Previously, A claimed that she was assaulted by Hong Min-gi during their relationship and pressured to get an abortion. In response, Hong Min-gi's side completely denied the allegations and countered that A had engaged in stalking behavior, such as visiting his home.

The agency also shared specific details regarding a recent disturbance incident. A reportedly visited Hong Min-gi's home in the early hours of August 23 and caused a disturbance. In response to this, an individual claiming to be A's older brother had previously appeared and denied the claims.

The agency stated, "Around 2 a.m. on August 23, A visited Hong Min-gi's Itaewon home once again, ringing the doorbell, crying loudly, and shouting curses. The police were dispatched that day, and upon the police's request for joint response with 119, A was ultimately transported by ambulance," confirming that the early morning disturbance actually took place.

They added, "Following the Act on Punishments, etc. of Stalking Crimes, the police also issued orders against A on that day prohibiting her from approaching within 100 meters and from approaching via telecommunications."

Hong Min-gi's side added, "We plan to faithfully cooperate with future investigative procedures, and the substantial truth and legal responsibility of this case will be clearly revealed through the investigation. Until the truth is brought to light through the objective investigation and decision of the investigative agencies, we ask you to refrain from making hasty judgments on unverified claims or recklessly expanding and reproducing content different from the facts."

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who created a global syndrome with the "Squid Game" series, has announced his return to the screen with the film "K.O. CLUB".

"K.O. CLUB" stands for "Killing Oldmen Club". Set in the near future where even youth can be bought with money, the story depicts the conflict between a small minority of elderly people holding wealth and power who have no intention of stepping down, and the younger generation left with virtually no opportunities.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who has proven both artistic value and commercial appeal through works such as the films "The Fortress", "Miss Granny", and "Silenced", gained worldwide spotlight when he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the global megahit "Squid Game"—a first for a non-English series. Attention is focused on what new stories Director Hwang, who has captivated audiences with his original worldbuilding, sharp perspective, and intense storytelling in every project, will unfold upon his return to the screen.

The casting lineup is also dazzling. Lee Byung-hun, the undisputed top actor known for films like "No Other Choice" and "The Match", is reuniting with Director Hwang Dong-hyuk following the "Squid Game" series.

Oh Jung-se, who commands an unrivaled presence through the film "Wild Sing" and dramas such as "We Are All Trying Here", "Good Boy", and "It's Okay to Not Be Okay", adds weight to the production. Park Hae-soo, who delivered intense immersion in "The Scarecrow", "The Price of Confession", and "Karma", is also reuniting with Director Hwang Dong-hyuk following season 1 of "Squid Game".

The production of "K.O. CLUB" will be handled by Firstman Studio, founded by "Squid Game" series producer Kim Ji-yeon and Director Hwang Dong-hyuk. As Director Hwang previously mentioned the possibility of collaborating with Netflix during overseas film festival schedules, he appears to be deliberating between a theatrical film and an OTT film.

The "2026 SBS Run & Music Festival in Andong," which started from the idea of a beginner running producer, will be held in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, on October 24.

This festival began when the producer, who had no running experience, asked running creator "Maranic TV" for help. The goal is to create a festival that goes beyond the commercial limits of existing marathon events, puts runners at the center, and promotes regional coexistence.

The production team personally ran and inspected the course starting from the Andong Dam waterfront path, passing through Imcheonggak, the Seven-Story Brick Pagoda at Beopheungsaji, and Wolyeonggyo Bridge, allowing participants to experience the history and nature of Andong. The course was designed so that runners can visit and stay at local restaurants and cafes after running.

As news of the event spread, donations from local merchants and businesses in Andong followed. One hundred meal vouchers for Andong jjimdak, 100 bottles of Andong soju, and 500 seasoned boneless mackerel packages were delivered, and one company pre-purchased and gifted 50 participation passes for beginner runners. In addition, a donation project for local promising track and field athletes will be held together.

On the evening of the event day, a concert will be held where participants who finished the run and citizens can enjoy together. Artists such as YB, 10cm, BTOB, and YENA are scheduled to take the stage and heighten the excitement of the festival.

The "2026 SBS Run & Music Festival in Andong," created together by runners and local residents, is currently accepting applications on its official website, and the event day's footage can be viewed through SBS broadcasts in November.

SOYEON did not shy away from addressing the controversies surrounding her. During her joint performance with the band Jaurim at the "2022 MAMA AWARDS," she changed the lyrics to say, "What kind of award are you going to give us this year, MAMA. You know who we are, the syndrome this year. I refuse specially created awards," which led to interpretations that she might have been expressing disappointment over failing to win a grand prize. Without adding extra comments, SOYEON candidly showed the scene and shared her thoughts.

The film "The Assassin(s)" has released a making-of video capturing its intense production set.

"The Assassin(s)" follows the pursuit of the mysteries and hidden forces behind the August 15, 1974, First Lady assassination attempt that shocked South Korea. It is directed by Huh Jin-ho and stars Yoo Hai-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Minho.

The newly released making-of video features stories from the director, production crew, and actors about bringing the mystery behind the incident, which served as the starting point of the project, to the screen.

Yoo Hai-jin raised curiosity about the mystery thriller by sharing, "I think this is a story that delves into the gaps within a historical event that everyone thought they knew," adding cinematic imagination to the questions hidden behind official records.

Director Huh Jin-ho and Park Hae-il stated, "Depending on the perspective you view it from, the meanings and suspicions can feel quite varied," foreshadowing the gripping tension created by the intersecting viewpoints of various characters surrounding a single incident, including a detective tracking the case, a newspaper social affairs desk chief, and a rookie reporter.

The production team's efforts to maximize immersion in the film also draw attention. Cinematographer Lee Mo-gae shared, "When Director Huh Jin-ho arrives, it always starts with the question, 'Why are we here?' Through such questions, I believe the situations and characters we shoot today can become real," revealing the process of meticulously fleshing out characters and situations through continuous questioning.

Art Director Kim Byeong-han also stated, "During location scouting, we changed our plan to shoot entirely using real locations. We tried to implement props and textures fitting the era, down to unseen details," raising expectations for an overwhelming realism that vividly brings back the atmosphere of the 1970s.

On August 25, Kim Dong-ryul shared the news directly through his social media channels regarding his solo concert titled "2026 Kim Dong-ryul Concert Old Songs", expressing his unique sentiments.

He began by stating, "This performance will be the first in my concert history, including my days in Exhibition, where I am preparing a stage without an orchestra." He continued, "It was my dream to hold a concert with a full orchestration arrangement, and I was able to make that dream come true after returning from studying abroad. As I repeated performances, the rich orchestra sound became a signature of my shows. I still love this kind of grandiose, magnificent epic-style music and performances, but even so, I wanted to try a somewhat minimalist configuration performance that breaks away from my typical concert style at least once."

In this concert, Kim Dong-ryul will perform with a band, excluding the orchestra. He explained, "This might actually be a more difficult challenge for me, like stepping onto a battlefield without a sword or a shield." He added, "Among my songs, there are quite a few minor-style tracks. I wanted to dust off and sing songs that I haven't been able to share often on stage for a long time. I also wanted to try various stage direction techniques that would be physically impossible if the stage were completely filled with instrumentalists."

Finally, Kim Dong-ryul expressed his confidence, saying, "For some people, this might feel a bit unfamiliar and awkward, while for others, it might be a concert that hits right in their taste. If you are someone who usually preferred the tracks that were sidelined in albums over my hit songs, or if you enjoyed the 2019 concert 'Old Songs', you can look forward to this performance."

Meanwhile, Kim Dong-ryul, who has set new standards for the domestic performance culture, has met audiences spanning generations since the 2000s through various concerts such as "Invitation", "Monologue", "Thanks", "2015 KIMDONGRYUL THE CONCERT", "Old Songs", "Melody", and "Stroll".

In particular, his 2023 concert "Melody" drew approximately 60,000 audience members across six shows, and his 2025 concert "Stroll" mobilized about 70,000 attendees over seven shows, proving his top-tier ticket power in the country.

Coupang Play series "The Affair Was Just the Beginning" has released preview stills for episode 7, capturing a fierce physical brawl among its lead actors Kim Hye-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, Kim Ji-hoon, and Kim Jaechul.

"The Affair Was Just the Beginning" is a runaway chain-collision black comedy in which a popular influencer couple that has marketed a happy family life and a neighboring doctor couple going through a messy divorce lawsuit become entangled in unmanageable secrets that make even infidelity seem trivial.

The stills for episode 7 released on the 26th capture a decisive moment where Gyeong-hui (Kim Hye-soo), Su-jeong (Cho Yeo-jeong), Jae-hong (Kim Ji-hoon), and Bo-seong (Kim Jaechul) engage in a chaotic fight together in one place. Having clashed fiercely amidst accumulated misunderstandings and secrets, they are drawn into a no-holds-barred physical brawl, pushing the tension to its absolute limit.

In addition, suspense is set to reach an extreme as Bo-seong's divorce lawyer secretly sneaks into Jae-hong's home, and the twin brother of the detective agency head who lost his life in a hit-and-run accident closely chases after the secrets. Min-seo and Ye-ji, the daughters of the two couples who visited Gyeong-hui's vacation home, also cross paths with someone they never should have encountered, foreshadowing yet another upheaval.

Previously, Kim Hye-soo, who plays Gyeong-hui, hinted in a media interview, "Episode 7 shows the four main characters gathering in one place and exploding into chaos," adding, "I think episode 7 will probably be the peak of this work." Anticipation is building for episode 7, which even the actors who performed in it found thrilling.

SBS variety show "Whenever Possible" achieved its first triple-kill sweep of season 5 and broke its own record for highest viewer ratings, fueled by Cha Tae-hyun's active role as a human good luck charm.

According to Nielsen Korea on the 26th, the previous day's broadcast of "Whenever Possible" recorded a peak viewership of 6.2%, an average of 4.2% for metropolitan households, and 1.6% for the key 2049 demographic. This marks the highest rating for the current season, ranking first overall among entertainment, drama, and cultural programs airing in the same time slot.

In the broadcast, MCs Yu Jae-seok and Yoo Yeonseok, along with guests Cha Tae-hyun and Jin Ki-joo, visited Gwangjin-gu in Seoul to bring good fortune to citizens.

Referring to himself as the pig's head of the show, Cha Tae-hyun remarked, "When I got the casting call, the producer told me I'm like a good luck charm. I'm the pig's head of 'Whenever Possible'." The trial of 63-year-old musical actor Nam Kyung-joo, who has been indicted on charges of sexual assault against his student, will proceed as a national participation trial in November.

On the 26th, the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 29 (Presiding Judge Uhm Ki-pyo) held the first preparatory hearing for Nam on charges of sexual assault by a person in a supervisory position, stating, "We will hold a national participation trial for two days on November 27 and 30." This decision comes after the court accepted the request made by Nam's side.

During the hearing, Nam's legal representative expressed the desire for a national participation trial, stating, "Rather than asking questions that cause secondary harm or shame, we will focus objectively on what the relationship between the defendant and the victim was like at the time," adding that they wish to receive an evaluation based on common sense and public sentiment.

In particular, Nam's defense attorney explained, "The prosecution has established the supervisory relationship based on three points: that the victim was a student attending the defendant's class at the time, that the defendant proposed the teaching assistant position and she was scheduled to take it, and the defendant's influence in the musical industry. We plan to focus our defense on the specific nature of the influence the defendant could exert over the victim and whether that supervisory relationship truly existed, considering that the victim's academic evaluation had already concluded and the appointment of a teaching assistant was decided by the student's choice rather than a unilateral decision by the instructor."

In response, the victim's legal representative requested, "Just as there is a right to a national participation trial, the victim's wishes must also be respected in sexual violence cases. Please carefully consider whether to hold a national participation trial." However, the court decided to proceed with the national participation trial after reviewing the opinions from both sides.

A national participation trial is a system in which citizens participate as jurors in criminal trials to determine guilt and suggest sentencing opinions. The jury's opinion does not have legal binding force and serves only in an advisory capacity.

On the first day of the trial on November 27, proceedings will include the identification of the defendant, the prosecution's statement of the summary of the indictment, documentary evidence examinations such as playing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and audio recordings, followed by the examination of five witnesses requested by the defendant. On the second day of the trial on the 30th, the examination of the victim as a witness, the examination of the defendant, the prosecution's sentencing recommendation, and the defense's final argument will take place, leading up to the sentencing.

Previously, Nam was accused of sexually assaulting a female student in the Seocho-gu area of Seoul last December by utilizing his social status and influence.

The case was sent to the prosecution following a police investigation, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Criminal Division 2 (Presiding Prosecutor Park Ji-na) indicted Nam without detention on April 24 on charges of sexual assault by a person in a supervisory position. During the prosecution stage, Nam requested to be referred to criminal mediation and attempted to reach a settlement with the victim, but the mediation fell through as the victim refused.

Meanwhile, Nam debuted in 1982 as a first-generation musical actor and was relieved of his position as an associate professor of musical theater in the Department of Performing Arts at Hongik University after news of the incident became known.

Broadcaster Park Soo-hong has directly apologized over the controversy that a flight bound for Guam was delayed by about an hour because his family decided to get off the plane and then changed their minds.

Park posted on his social media on the 26th, "A flight delay occurred recently due to my family during the departure process. We caused great inconvenience by taking away the precious time of many people, and we also caused trouble for the airline officials. I bow my head and sincerely apologize."

Group Stray Kids has landed in the top 3 of the main U.S. Billboard chart for two consecutive weeks with their new mini-album.

Released on the 7th, the mini-album "THIS & THAT" claimed the No. 3 spot on the U.S. Billboard main album chart, the Billboard 200, for the chart dated August 29 (local time), successfully following up on its No. 1 debut by securing a top 3 placement for a second consecutive week. The album also maintained its popularity by holding the top spot on the World Albums chart. Beyond Billboard, the group defended its No. 1 position for two consecutive weeks on the France's National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP) Top Albums chart and the Austria Ö3 Top 40 Long Play Albums chart, following the August 14 chart.

With "THIS & THAT," Stray Kids set various first and highest records. Achieving a total of 369,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first week of release for their personal best sales figure, the new album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the chart dated August 22. This marked their ninth consecutive No. 1 entry on the chart since first topping it in 2022 with the mini-album "ODDINARY," adding a historic first achievement to the group's career.
