Actors Kim Do-hoon, Jeon Jong-seo, and Lee Joon-gi have been cast in the Netflix action historical film "Dochabi."

Netflix announced the production confirmation of "Dochabi" on the 13th and unveiled a captivating casting lineup featuring Kim Do-hoon, Jeon Jong-seo, Lee Joon-gi, Lee Sang-yi, and Bae In-hyuk.

"Dochabi" is an action historical drama depicting the story of Taesan, a former military officer who lived hidden deep in the mountains in a border region where slash-and-burn farmers formed a village, alongside the Jurchen woman Ah-hai. He fights against Lee Do-gwan, who wears an unidentified mask and hunts the slash-and-burn farmers, and comes to be called Dochabi. The title "Dochabi" is a pure Korean word meaning "goblin."

The direction is led by director Ahn Tae-jin, who drew favorable reviews from audiences and critics alike with his debut film "The Night Owl." The screenplay is handled by writer Hwang Seong-gu, who has showcased deep character narratives and solid storytelling in works such as "The King's Warden" and "Anarchist from Colony." Production is handled by Onda Works, the production company behind "The King's Warden," which ranks second in all-time box office hits.

The diverse casting lineup of "Dochabi" is also gathering anticipation. Kim Do-hoon, who has appeared in "Moving," "Your Honor," "Love Scout," and "Dear X," will take on the role of Taesan, bringing his accumulated action skills. Taesan, who lived in hiding with Ah-hai in the mountains, gets caught up in the unidentified conspiracy of masked men and is framed as a barbarian leader. Amidst desperate moments where he survives like a monster and fights like a ghost, he eventually becomes a Dochabi who protects the people.

The role of Ah-hai is played by Jeon Jong-seo. Actor Jeon Jong-seo, who starred in Netflix films "Ballerina" and "The Call," as well as the film "Project Y," has built her own acting spectrum by showing a different face in every work she appears in. Ah-hai is a woman with swift movements and exceptional martial arts skills who fights alongside Taesan.

Lee Do-gwan, the top commander of the border region, is played by Lee Joon-gi. Lee Joon-gi, who has delivered highly immersive acting in "Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun," "Again My Life," "Flower of Evil," and "Lawless Lawyer," takes on the role of Lee Do-gwan, who harbors a deep desire for power in "Dochabi."

Lee Sang-yi, who left a strong impact in the Netflix series "Bloodhounds," the Tving original "The Legend of Kitchen Soldier," and the drama "A Bona Fide Killer," takes on the role of inspector Park Se-ryong, who visits the site to examine the reality upon hearing stories of unidentified masked men appearing in the north. In addition, Bae In-hyuk, who has solidified his position and imprinted his presence through "Our Universe," "Check-in Hanyang," and "The Story of Park's Marriage Contract," transforms into Crown Prince Yeolhwa-gun.

HAN TEY, leader of the group MYTRO, released his first solo mini-album, "Made of Moment," on the 13th.

The album is themed around the various moments that made HAN TEY who he is today. According to his agency, the album conveys the message that different times—such as moments he wants to remember for a long time, moments whose preciousness is realized belatedly with time, and the brightest moment right now—together form a single person's narrative.

The album features a total of three tracks, including the title track "Life Shot" (literal title), along with "Romantic Era" (literal title) and "Spend The Night." The agency explained that the album showcases his musical spectrum as a solo artist by featuring both bright and emotional tracks. The album's visuals incorporate a concept combining a western mood with modern styling alongside restrained imagery.

HAN TEY debuted in 2012 with the group MR.MR, and later promoted in Japan while appearing on Mnet's "I Can See Your Voice 7" and TV CHOSUN's "Mr. Trot 2." He has been active as the leader of MYTRO since 2024.

His agency, Hwaon Entertainment, stated that this album is meaningful as HAN TEY's first solo work released under his own name, adding that fans will be able to experience the stage experience he has accumulated and the colors he has yet to show through his music, performances, and visuals.

The first trial for Kim Se-ui, the head of YouTube channel Hover Lab who was indicted on charges including spreading false information about YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won), will be held on the 13th.

Judge Jung Ah-young of Criminal Division 20 at the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first trial hearing at 11:10 a.m. for Kim on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc. (Defamation), the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, Etc. of Stalking, and coercion.

Kim is accused of producing and distributing provocative content using Tzuyang's personal life for the purpose of generating profit through donations via support accounts. He is also accused of coercing Tzuyang into broadcasting an explanation regarding his exposés and maliciously defaming her. The investigation into this case began in July of last year when Tzuyang's side filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 2 indicted Kim without detention on March 31.

This trial was originally scheduled for its first hearing on April 20, but was delayed for nearly four months as Kim changed his legal counsel and repeatedly submitted requests for rescheduling. On June 24, Kim submitted a request for a closed trial hearing, followed by a statement of absence the next day. In response, Judge Jung stated her policy not to grant rescheduling requests and warned that she could consider issuing a warrant for his arrest at the next hearing.

Prior to this, Kim urged supporters to come to the court in large numbers to show their support through a prison letter released on the Hover Lab channel on the 11th. In the letter, while expressing the difficulties of prison life amid the intense heat, he reportedly stated his intention to boldly step into the courtroom even in his prisoner uniform.

Meanwhile, separately from this case, Kim is currently incarcerated after being detained and indicted on charges of spreading false information regarding the relationship between the late actor Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun. He is accused of spreading fake social media chat screens and audio files created with AI, claiming that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron for six years when she was a minor, and the related trial is scheduled to be held separately on the 14th.

It was belatedly confirmed that the police investigation into the illegal medical procedure suspicions involving the unlicensed practitioner known as 'Injection Aunt' has expanded to include SHINee member ONEW (real name Lee Jin-ki) and TV personality Jun Hyun-moo, following earlier reports involving comedian Park Na-rae, SHINee member KEY, and YouTuber Short Mouth Sun (real name Kim Mi-kyung).

According to the police on the 12th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station has sequentially summoned and questioned Park Na-rae, Jun Hyun-moo, ONEW, KEY, and Short Mouth Sun from May to last month regarding the illegal procedure allegations involving the 45-year-old unlicensed medical practitioner surnamed Lee.

Following Park Na-rae's third questioning in May, KEY, Short Mouth Sun, Jun Hyun-moo, and ONEW were each questioned as suspects up until early last month.

Lee is under investigation for administering intravenous drip shots and prescribing antidepressants to celebrities in officetels and vehicles without a domestic medical license, as well as hoarding medicines by collecting prescriptions. Under the current Medical Service Act, even those who received unlicensed procedures can be punished as accomplices if they recognized that the other party was unlicensed and actively requested the procedure. Therefore, the police have reportedly focused on verifying whether each investigated individual was aware of Lee's lack of qualifications.

Regarding this, ONEW's agency Griffin Entertainment stated in an official statement on the 12th, "ONEW visited a hospital in the past through an acquaintance's introduction and received medical treatment for skin care purposes," adding, "At the time, ONEW recognized the individual as a doctor or a medical-related person affiliated with the hospital, and there were no circumstances that would cause him to doubt the legality of the medical license or procedures."

The agency also added, "During the related investigation conducted once last May, we stated the above facts as they are and faithfully participated in the investigative agency's probe," and "We hope that unverified speculations and information different from the facts will not spread."

Previously, KEY and Short Mouth Sun admitted to receiving treatment from Lee and stated that they knew Lee as a doctor. KEY admitted to the procedures 12 days after the suspicions arose and temporarily halted his broadcasting activities, but later released a new SHINee album and performed at the group's concert held at the KSPO DOME in Seoul Olympic Park from May 29 to 31.

It was belatedly reported that SHINee member KEY (real name Kim Ki-bepm) and YouTuber Short Mouth Sun (real name Kim Mi-kyung) underwent police suspect questioning regarding allegations of illegal medical procedures by an unlicensed medical practitioner in her 40s, surnamed Lee, commonly referred to as the 'injection aunt' in connection with comedian Park Na-rae.

According to the police on the 12th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station summoned KEY and Short Mouth Sun as suspects under charges including medical service act violations in early last month. They are accused of receiving illegal medical procedures, such as receiving IV drip injections or being prescribed antidepressants, at an officetel and in a vehicle owned by Lee, who does not hold a domestic medical license.

The police reportedly focused on confirming whether KEY and Short Mouth Sun received the procedures while fully aware that Lee was unlicensed. Under the current medical law, not only the individual who performed the unlicensed procedure but also the recipient can potentially be punished as an accomplice if they were aware of the legal violation and actively requested the procedure.

This case began in December of last year following revelations by broadcaster Park Na-rae's former managers. Park Na-rae, who is being investigated under the same charges, appeared before the police in May for her third suspect interrogation.

Previously, KEY admitted to the procedures 12 days after the suspicions arose late last year and temporarily suspended his broadcasting activities. Even after suspending his activities, he released a new SHINee album and performed at his solo concert "- The Trilogy I - 2026 SHINee WORLD VIII : [THE INVERT]" held at the KSPO DOME in Seoul Olympic Park from May 29 to 31.

Actor Jung Hae-in has once again proven his wide acting spectrum by seamlessly crossing between romance, action, and noir through "Our Sticky Love."

The Netflix series "Our Sticky Love," released on August 7, is a romantic comedy depicting the heart-fluttering cohabitation of Go Eun-sae (played by Hayoung), a prosecutor suffering from amnesia, and Jang Tae-ha (played by Jung Hae-in), a boxing coach who claims to be her boyfriend.

Jung Hae-in perfectly immersed himself into the role of Jang Tae-ha, the ultimate pure-hearted romantic who would gladly risk his life to protect his first love, Go Eun-sae. Expressing everything from the thrill of a man in love to deeply poignant emotions with delicate breathing and expressive gazes, he convincingly brought to life a devoted character that could otherwise have seemed overly fantastical.

Jung Hae-in's signature strength, his action performance, shone brightly as well. Drawing on his battle-tested action skills previously praised in works like "D.P." and "I, the Executioner", he expressed the desperate emotion of having to protect his loved one through raw, intense action, maximizing viewer immersion.

While navigating the North American leg of their "ARIRANG" world tour, BTS members V and JUNGKOOK delivered a lighthearted warning to fans who approached them at a hotel gym.

Following their concert in Baltimore on the 11th (local time), V and JUNGKOOK took to Weverse Live to connect with fans and shared an anecdote about running into them at the hotel fitness center.

The two members recounted visiting the hotel gym around 2 AM, where they encountered about 20 fans. JUNGKOOK noted, "I've never seen people working out at dawn during a tour," guessing that the individuals had come specifically to see them.

While V remarked, "If we help with your diet or bulking up, that's a good thing," he drew a line, stating that coming to the gym regardless of the number of people is fine for working out, but they shouldn't interfere with each other.

JUNGKOOK urged fans, "Don't just stare. Please focus on your own posture and workout, whether that means lifting dumbbells or using the equipment," adding in protest, "Isn't this our privacy?" V also playfully chimed in with a warning, mentioning that a fan wearing green in a video filmed the previous day was caught on camera, joking that he could release the footage.

Reportedly, the fan in green actually approached V after JUNGKOOK left the gym.

During the live broadcast, V also confessed that he and JUNGKOOK have been receiving medical treatment. Revealing a hearing issue for the first time, V shared, "I've never mentioned this to ARMY, but my hearing hasn't been good for two and a half years." He explained that compared to full hearing in his left ear, his right ear is only at about 30 percent capacity, and he is steadily taking medication and receiving treatment.

JUNGKOOK similarly opened up about the physical toll on stage. The project has drawn significant attention as a new release from production company Egg Is Coming's "Nah Yung-suk division" in collaboration with Netflix.

Taking on his first fixed variety show through this program, Lee Chae-min shared, "I usually like working out, but I have never gone hiking on my own. Hearing that we would be climbing massive, famous mountains rather than a small neighborhood hill behind my house was dizzying and made me very worried."

He also opened up about his feelings when actually climbing the snowy mountain, saying, "When I saw the sea of clouds spread out across the peak of Hallasan, it felt like a special, gift-like joy." However, he added with a laugh, "I still wanted to go back down," sharing his honest and grueling experience of the hike.

Producing director Nah Yung-suk showed deep affection for Lee Chae-min, Car, the garden, DOWOON, and TARZZAN, naming them "next-generation figures who will lead South Korean variety shows for the next 10 years." Regarding Lee Chae-min, producing director Nah remarked, "I felt certain the moment I first met him. I thought that if I could exclusively work with this friend, I could delightfully showcase his charm to the world. He looks completely normal on the outside, but once he gets excited, he becomes a chatterbox who talks endlessly. He is like an unexplored, unknown territory. If I unpack that one piece at a time, I figured I could work with him for 10 years," highly praising his variety show potential.

Co-producing director Park Hyun-yong praised him as well, saying, "Lee Chae-min is well-spoken, smart, and great at sharing opinions with the production team." At the same time, he playfully shared his difficulties, adding, "Because he has a strong competitive streak and refuses to lose to himself, and because he is tall and has great stamina, it was hard for the staff to keep up with him."

The production team initially cast the four members for a gaming variety show before pivoting to a hiking show and launching "Take a Hike!". As a result, the four members, who previously had no interest in hiking, set out on grueling winter mountain climbs in freezing environments dropping to minus 27 degrees Celsius, including Seoraksan and Hallasan. Having been suddenly pushed into hiking, the cast members playfully vented their grievances to the production team during the event, calling it an "employment scam."

Lee Chae-min took on the role of the team's "minister of foreign affairs," spotting and speaking up about the production team's disadvantageous proposals. Reflecting on the experience, Lee Chae-min recalled, "While climbing the mountains, I became really close with the members, and a deep sense of camaraderie formed."

When asked about a future casting call from producing director Nah Yung-suk, however, he wittily responded, "I think getting tricked once is enough. If he is kind enough to call me again, I will discuss it with the members, and if we do it, we will do it together and decide to leave together," drawing an explosion of laughter.

Finally, Lee Chae-min shared a key viewing point: "We beautifully captured the scenery of the snowy mountains that will completely wash away the heat if you watch from a cool room during the scorching summer. Please look forward to a grueling variety show that will help you beat the heat."

Netflix variety show "Take a Hike!", which captures the activities of next-generation variety star Lee Chae-min discovered by producing director Nah Yung-suk, consists of 10 episodes and will be released for the first time on the 18th.
