Hollywood actor Tom Cruise has confirmed his 13th visit to Korea.

Tom Cruise will visit Korea to promote the film "Digger" (directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu), which opens next month on October 3. Starting with a press conference attended by local media at a location in Seoul on the afternoon of October 1, he plans to meet fans through events including a red carpet appearance.

This marks his 13th visit to Korea overall, setting the record for the most visits by a Hollywood actor. With every visit, he has earned the nickname "Kind Uncle Tom" for his top-tier fan service.

"Digger" tells the story that unfolds when a small crack occurs at a Greenland glacier drilling facility belonging to Digger Rockwell, an eccentric and stubborn tycoon, turning into an unprecedented mega-disaster that shakes the entire world.

Tom Cruise takes on the title role in this project, heralding a drastic acting transformation. He showed immense dedication by not hesitating to undergo hours of special effects makeup to play an elderly character.

The film opens on October 3.

The hit film "The King's Warden", which surpassed 16.92 million moviegoers nationwide and ranked second all-time among South Korean box office hits, is landing on the small screen four months after its theatrical run concluded.

SBS will broadcast the movie "The King's Warden" as a Chuseok special feature at 9:30 PM on the 26th. This comes seven months after its release date (February 4) and about four months after its final theatrical screening date.

"The King's Warden" depicts the fateful journey of the young deposed king Yi Hong-wi (Park Ji-hoon), who was sent into exile in Cheongnyeongpo, and village head Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hai-jin), who is tasked with watching over him. The film was directed by Jang Hang-jun and stars Yoo Hai-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.

Actor Lee Jung-eun is set to redefine her career with another unforgettable performance in SBS's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama, "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia."

Premiering on Friday, October 9, SBS's "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia" is a gripping, cathartic medical noir. It follows Kye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won), a genius surgeon who knows neither failure nor compromise, as she shatters massive institutional corruption with her extraordinary surgical skills.

Lee Jung-eun takes on the role of Jang Hee-sook, the head of a doctor placement agency who cares only about money. On the surface, she seems like a fussy, talkative snob, but beneath the facade lies a shrewd schemer who manipulates the business world with brazen social savvy.

Sharing why she chose to join the project, Lee Jung-eun revealed, "Beyond the thrilling genre elements of a medical drama, I was deeply moved by how the drama explores the collision between human desire and the value of life through the presence of 'Doctor X.'"

She continued, "While the characters I have mainly portrayed represented the warmth of everyday neighbors, Jang Hee-sook is someone who demonstrates the cold logic of capital in the most realistic way on the front lines. While doctors dedicate themselves to the noble calling of saving lives, Jang Hee-sook views the very 'people' handling those lives purely as business commodities. Although she may appear ruthless, she is also an incredibly realistic person, so I am very curious to see how viewers will perceive her."

Addressing the acting nuances she focused on to portray Jang Hee-sook's calculated maneuvering and ambition hidden behind a nonchalant exterior, Lee Jung-eun explained, "Whenever she does business, I tried to give her presence a certain gravitas. I wanted to depict someone who wears an easygoing smile on the outside, but is constantly running calculations behind closed doors," raising anticipation for her transformed acting style.

She was particularly enthusiastic about her unique on-screen chemistry and "womance" with Kim Ji-won. Lee Jung-eun praised her co-star, saying, "Kim Ji-won is a wonderful colleague with grounded, profound energy. Jang Hee-sook and Kye Soo-jung are bound by a cold contractual relationship, yet beneath it lies a nuanced mix of empathy and connection. Every time I made eye contact and acted alongside Ji-won on set, I felt those emotional layers fill in naturally. "Senior actor Son Hyun-joo provided a steady, solid anchor while leading the set with consideration and respect so that junior actors could perform to their hearts' content," she said with deep admiration. She also conveyed the passionate atmosphere on set, adding, "The younger actors, including Kim Woo-seok, infused the set with fresh energy and tireless passion. It was a lot of fun watching the process of reaching the destination, where Jin Yi-soo's originality and boldness, Joo Hye-ra's insight and firmness, Park Jun-young's steadfastness, and Choi Kyung-jin's flexibility came together."

Kim Shin-bi picked the action scene from Episode 1, which announced the glamorous return of Major Crimes Unit 1, showing his deep affection for his character. He recalled, "This is the longest action scene the three of them worked on together before Team Leader Joo Hye-ra arrived. It stands out the most because each character's unique personality and charm were well embedded within the flashy and refreshing action."

Notably, Jung Eun-chae raised expectations by mentioning a scene from the final episode that has yet to air. Selecting her face-to-face scene with serial killer Yoo Sung-won (played by Yoo Seung-ho), Jung Eun-chae amplified curiosity by stating, "The moment when Jin Yi-soo, Joo Hye-ra, and Yoo Sung-won faced each other amidst a mix of deeply accumulated anger, hatred, and resentment over a long time, acting while exchanging energy with one another, left a strong impression."

Internet broadcaster Pi (real name Kang Da-on) is reportedly currently receiving treatment in a hospital after the man she had accused of sexual assault was acquitted in his first trial.

Pi's father shared an update on his daughter's condition through an internet broadcasting platform on September 16. He said, "It appears that my daughter took a large amount of sleeping pills and psychiatric medication and also consumed alcohol. I believe she made this choice because she was devastated by the unfavorable trial verdict."

He continued, "She is currently being treated in the intensive care unit of a hospital. She says she is sorry for causing concern. As her father, I will stay by her side and take good care of her."

Previously, in September 2024, Pi filed a complaint against A on charges of sexual assault, claiming that she had been sexually assaulted. According to Pi's side, after a group dinner, she was intoxicated and headed to a hotel she had reserved with the help of a designated driver. When she regained consciousness, A had reportedly taken the car keys from the designated driver and driven the vehicle to a nearby alley, during which he allegedly made unwanted physical contact with her.

A's side has denied the allegations, saying that he had followed Pi because he was concerned about her condition and had only shaken her shoulder to wake her up, without making any sexual contact.

On September 15, approximately two years after the incident, the first-trial court acquitted A. The court reportedly acknowledged circumstances including that A had arrived at the hotel before Pi and subsequently took over the vehicle and drove it elsewhere. However, it reportedly determined that there was insufficient objective evidence, such as dashcam footage, directly confirming what had occurred inside the vehicle.

Immediately after the verdict, Pi expressed her frustration and sense of injustice during her broadcast. On September 15, rapper Kerrigan May, a friend of Pi, also shared part of a conversation she had with Pi on social media, expressing her sorrow over the situation. The post has since been deleted.

Group GOT7 member YOUNGJAE has donated 10 million won to an abandoned dog shelter in celebration of his birthday.

On the 17th for his birthday, YOUNGJAE delivered a donation of 10 million won to Rainbow Shelter, operated by the animal protection organization Korean Dogs. The donated funds will be used for the medical treatment and health recovery of abandoned dogs rescued from poor environments, as well as for improving shelter facilities.

This is not the first time YOUNGJAE has made a donation for abandoned dogs. At the end of last year, he also donated 30 million won to the same shelter. At that time, he delivered the donation in the name of his beloved dog "Coco", who had crossed the rainbow bridge, and personally visited the shelter to engage in volunteer work such as cleaning the dog kennels.

Coco is a Maltese that YOUNGJAE adopted and raised together with fellow group member MARK. The dog received love from the members since their dorm-living days, and moved along with YOUNGJAE when he moved out of the dorms to live with his older brother in April 2017. Rapper Ksmartboi (Kim Sang-min, 22), signed to Indigo Music led by rapper Swings (Moon Ji-hoon, 39), has been arrested on charges of smoking marijuana while on probation.

According to reports from News1, on the 16th, Judge Yang Eun-sang, the senior warrant judge at the Seoul Western District Court, issued an arrest warrant after conducting a pre-trial detention hearing for Kim, who faces charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (Marijuana), stating there are concerns of flight and destruction of evidence. Kim is accused of using liquid marijuana. The Mapo Police Station in Seoul obtained an arrest warrant from the court, arrested Kim on the 14th, and requested an arrest warrant the following day.
