The film "The Intern" is heading to theaters with strong support and encouragement from the original director.

"The Intern" tells an office life story that transcends generations and job titles, beginning when Gi-ho (Choi Minsik), a 37-year veteran senior intern, joins the company of Seon-woo (Han So-hee), who rapidly emerged as a dark horse in the fashion industry within three years of launch. Director Nancy Meyers, who wrote and directed the 2015 original film that achieved worldwide box office success and remains a "life-changing film" for many, shared a special message of support for the Korean remake.

A veteran director who has worked across writing, directing, and producing in Hollywood with films like "The Holiday" and "Something's Gotta Give," Nancy Meyers expressed unique affection, saying, "I started this movie out of a wish that someone had been there to quietly support me when I was young."

She continued, "I was glad to hear that it is being newly produced in Korea, and as a creator, I am very excited. It is deeply meaningful that this story can resonate across different cultures," expressing her anticipation for "The Intern" as it is newly born through Korean sentiment and office culture.

She also showed trust in the lead actors Choi Minsik and Han So-hee. "The Intern" will be released in theaters across nine Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, on October 16 (Friday), one month after its domestic release. This marks the largest scale for a Korean film presented by Warner Bros. Korea in the Asian region.

Kurt Rieder, Head of Theatrical Distribution for Warner Bros. Asia Pacific (APAC), shared his thoughts, saying, "We are thrilled to restart Warner Bros. Korea's Korean film projects through "The Intern." We have great expectations as we present an IP that has already been loved by countless audiences in a new way in Korea. Actor Jung Ilwoo made an emergency relief donation on September 2 to support residents and children affected by the devastating flood in Nepal.

According to his agency, Galaxy Corporation, the donation delivered through the international relief and development NGO Good Neighbors will be used entirely for emergency restoration and support for displaced residents in major affected areas such as Nuwakot and Gorkha.

Jung Ilwoo shared his thoughts, saying, "I hope this can be even a small help to the displaced people who have lost their livelihoods due to the sudden disaster, and I hope they can return to their peaceful daily lives as soon as possible." Through this, his name was also added to The Neighbors Club, Good Neighbors' major donor society.

Previously, Jung Ilwoo has quietly continued his charitable deeds for 18 years. In November 2008, he personally carried briquettes on an A-frame carrier to deliver warmth to neighbors facing a harsh winter. In March 2012, while staying in New York, USA for a break, he visited the Korean disabled welfare organization Milal, spent time with disabled children, and quietly handed over a donation. Furthermore, in April 2014 at the time of the Sewol ferry disaster, he donated 30 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association for the grieving bereaved families and victims, and even abruptly canceled his scheduled fan meeting schedule to express sincere condolences.

In June 2017, while serving as a social worker, he donated 20 million won to the Seocho-gu Senior Welfare Center where he was working, contributing to the improvement of elderly welfare and treatment environments. In April 2019, he delivered 20 million won to Hope Bridge for victims of the large-scale wildfires in Goseong and Sokcho, Gangwon Province. In December 2024, while serving as a goodwill ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, he donated all 10 million won in proceeds from a charity bazaar he planned himself to the treatment costs of children with rare and incurable diseases ahead of Christmas. Even during the large-scale wildfire disaster in March 2025, he deposited 20 million won to the Korean Red Cross to help affected residents return to their daily lives.

In particular, Jung Ilwoo's warmth extended beyond borders to future generations across Asia. As a goodwill ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, he visited Jakarta, Indonesia in January 2025, where he conducted educational volunteer work and relief supply support activities for local underprivileged children with Red Cross Youth (RCY) members. Following this, in February 2025, he successfully led a health and hygiene improvement project and youth cultural exchange volunteer work in Vietnam in cooperation with RCY, widely promoting humanitarian values to the world.

DANIELLE, formerly of the group NewJeans, released the first video on her personal YouTube channel and shared updates from Australia.

On the 3rd, DANIELLE posted a video titled "Detour" on her YouTube channel. Standing in front of the camera without makeup by a lake in Australia, she checked her equipment, saying, "Testing, one, two, three," and continued, "As you can see, I am currently out by a lake in Australia. Since I am alone, it feels a bit awkward, but I will just go with it as it is."

DANIELLE explained the reason for her trip to Australia as her longing for nature and family. She shared everyday moments spent in her hometown of Newcastle, saying, "I really missed the nature, the sea, and my family where I was born and raised. So I decided to spend some time here." Director Na Hong-jin of the film "HOPE" has been selected by prominent American entertainment and film media outlet The Hollywood Reporter as one of the 30 most powerful genre filmmakers.

The Hollywood Reporter introduced Director Na Hong-jin as a South Korean master who has built an international fan base ranging from arthouse film fans to action movie fans.

Also making the list are Mexican master Guillermo del Toro, who won the Academy Award for Best Picture with "The Shape of Water"; Ryan Coogler, creator of "Black Panther" and "Sinners"; Ari Aster, well known in South Korea for "Hereditary" and "Midsommar"; and Sam Raimi, famous for "The Evil Dead" and the "Spider-Man" series.

Along with this selection, a special interview with Director Na Hong-jin is set to be released by The Hollywood Reporter. The interview covers his genre-spanning cinematic world and the behind-the-scenes stories of his return with his fourth film, "HOPE," following "The Chaser," "The Yellow Sea," and "The Wailing."

Director Na Hong-jin's fourth feature film, "HOPE," begins when Beom-seok, the head of the Hopohang branch office located in the Demilitarized Zone, hears news from local young people that a tiger has appeared, leading to an extraordinary reality as the entire village goes on high alert. Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Hoyeon star in the film. It was released domestically in South Korea on July 15 and drew 4.53 million moviegoers nationwide.

Having concluded its domestic theatrical run, "HOPE" is now targeting the U.S. market. It is scheduled to open in approximately 1,500 theaters across North America on September 9. This marks the largest-scale release for a South Korean film in North American history since "Parasite." Unlike "Parasite," which opened with a limited release and gradually expanded its theater count, "HOPE" will meet audiences across North America with a wide release right from the start, a move that highlights the high local anticipation for the film.

Actor Yim Si-wan will bring the 31st Busan International Film Festival to a grand close.

The Busan International Film Festival organizing committee announced on the morning of September 4 that actor Yim Si-wan has been selected as the sole host for the closing ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which will run for ten days from October 6 (Tuesday) to October 15 (Thursday).

The closing ceremony will also feature the Busan Award ceremony, which selects winners in the competitive section newly established last year. Actor Yim Si-wan, known for his clear appearance combined with deep acting depth, was chosen as the sole host to grace the finale of the festival.

Yim Si-wan entered the acting path in 2012 with the drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun", making a strong impression on the public with his stable acting skills. He then completely shattered the limitations and prejudices of being an idol-turned-actor through his powerful performance in his screen debut film "The Attorney" (2013). In "Misaeng" (2014), he realistically portrayed the precarious youth generation through restrained emotional acting in the role of rookie office worker Jang Geu-rae, firmly establishing himself as a leading actor. Girl group Lovelyz member Yoo Ji-ae (33) has directly shared her thoughts on her marriage to actor Kwak Si-yang (39, real name Kwak Myung-jin).

Through her social media on the 3rd, Yoo Ji-ae announced the marriage news, stating, "I have found someone with whom I want to cherish and rely on each other, and spend our future time together, and we have promised a new beginning with good intentions."

Yoo Ji-ae continued, "Above all, I am sorry that those of you who have watched over and supported me for a long time had to learn about this news through media reports. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of his debut, singer Kim Gun-mo is embarking on a national tour titled "Kim Gun-mo. 35TH ANNIVERSARY LIVE TOUR," kicking off in Daegu on October 10 and running through 2027.

Having released his first new song in 10 years, "How Far Are You," last July, Kim plans to broaden the scope of his musical activities starting with this 35th-anniversary national tour. The biggest highlight of this tour is seeing Kim play the guitar for the first time since his debut. Long known as the "piano-playing Kim Gun-mo," he has been dedicating himself to practice to the point of forming calluses on his fingertips for this tour stage.

Previously, Kim held his first comeback tour in six years, starting in Busan last September and concluding in Incheon on December 31, achieving sold-out shows across all regions. At the time, he showed unexpected nervousness for a singer with 35 years since debut, even shedding tears on his first stage. As the concerts continued, he commanded the stage with his signature wit and live vocals amid enthusiastic cheers from the audience, earning evaluations that he reaffirmed the true essence of "singer Kim Gun-mo."

In a recent interview, Kim shared, "During my hiatus, I practiced the guitar alone for four to five hours a day and returned to music. This is not a comeback, but the debut of Kim Gun-mo playing the guitar." This tour is set to be the first place he showcases this new side to the audience.

Kim also shared his reflections on the past years. Looking back, he stated, "It didn't take long for the tower I built over 28 years to collapse," expressing his determination to now create a path for juniors to walk on rather than building a tall tower. This connects with the main copy of this tour: "With the same name, different steps, we will pave the way with our story." It also signifies sharing music that has deepened over the years with long-time fans who spent their youth listening to Kim's songs on cassette tapes and CDs in their teens and twenties.

The second schedule and additional regions for 2027 will be announced later, and ticket reservations will be held exclusively through Yes24 Ticket.
