"The Ballad of Us 2" has teased the arrival of a sensational new vocal talent through its second pre-release teaser clip.

Ahead of its premiere on Monday, October 5 at 10 p.m., SBS's "The Ballad of Us 2" released a preview video on September 23 spotlighting a 15-year-old contestant whose rendition of Wheesung's "Can't You" captivated the entire "Top 100 Ears" delegation.

In the released clip, Roy Kim showed high expectations upon seeing the 15-year-old contestant emerge under a single spotlight, remarking, "Fifteen years old? That's the youngest so far." Once the track began, the contestant commanded the entire room from the opening bars with a crystal-clear tone and deep emotional resonance that defied their young age.

As "Can't You" surged toward its emotional climax, the newly joined "Top 100 Ears" panel members Moon Geun-young, Joo Woo-jae, and Roy Kim—along with "Variety Team" member Jun Hyun-moo and "Music Team" member Jung Jae-hyung—could not hold back their continuous gasps of awe. Several panel members even rose from their seats before the performance had concluded, showering the stage with cheers and a standing ovation that foreshadowed the birth of another legendary stage.

"The Ballad of Us 2" is a music competition program where classic, beloved ballads embraced across generations are reinterpreted through the fresh musical sensibilities of contestants with an average age of 17.9. This season will feature a diverse lineup of hidden gems, including international contestants and active-duty military personnel, promising an even richer variety of performances.

An auction proceeding has begun for a 50 percent stake in a Hanyang Apartment unit in Apgujeong-dong, Seoul, owned by Kim Se-ui, the head of the YouTube channel Hover Lab, who is currently being detained and standing trial on charges including defamation of actor Kim Soo-hyun.

According to legal sources, the Seoul Central District Court decided on September 17 to initiate auction proceedings for real estate registered in Kim’s name. The property, for which the application was filed on September 14, is a unit in Hanyang Apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The auction was initiated at the request of attorney Kim So-yeon, who claims that Kim has failed to pay approximately 120 million won in legal fees and other payments. Attorney Kim had previously applied for compulsory execution based on a payment order obtained through the Daejeon District Court.

However, multiple senior claims have already been registered against the apartment. The registry shows a mortgage held by Shinhan Bank (approximately 3.396 billion won registered in 2020 and an additional 360 million won in 2024), a provisional seizure of Kim Se-ui’s stake in the amount of 2 billion won by Gold Medalist, the agency representing Kim Soo-hyun, and two tax liens imposed by the Gangnam District Tax Office over unpaid national taxes totaling approximately 2.37 billion won. All of these claims were registered ahead of attorney Kim’s claim. The total amount of claims registered on the property is approximately 8.07 billion won.

According to the registry, the apartment was acquired in 1986 by Kim’s late father, Kim Young-su, a former MBC president. After Kim Young-su died in August 2024, Kim Se-ui and his older sister inherited the apartment, each receiving a 50 percent ownership stake.

Meanwhile, on September 10, the Criminal Proceeds Recovery Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, headed by Chief Prosecutor So Jeong-su, determined through an investigation that included tracing the sponsorship accounts of a company operated by Kim and questioning key individuals involved that Kim had acquired at least 169.4 million won in criminal proceeds in connection with the defamation case involving Kim Soo-hyun. The prosecution subsequently completed the registration of a preservation order over land owned by Kim.

A preservation order is a measure that prevents a defendant or suspect from disposing of specified assets in advance, in preparation for their potential confiscation or collection by the state.

Actor Lee Byung-hun is set to become the voice of a world-renowned museum.

Lee Byung-hun will take part as the narrator for "Korea: 2,000 Years of Creativity," an exhibition opening on October 1 at The British Museum in London. Co-organized by the National Museum of Korea, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), and The British Museum, the exhibition provides a comprehensive spotlight on approximately 2,000 years of Korean culture and art through some 180 masterworks, including national treasures and designated treasures of Korea.

During the exhibition, Lee Byung-hun will guide visitors into the stories behind the displays, introducing Korean culture and historical works with his signature deep, resonant baritone and smooth, stable delivery.

Marking the first comprehensive showcase of Korean art and culture in the United Kingdom in roughly 40 years, the exhibition also includes selected pieces donated by the bereaved family of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee to the National Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, making Lee Byung-hun's participation even more meaningful.

Expectations are especially high as his narration goes beyond simply delivering information about the artworks, capturing understated emotion and focused intensity so visitors can feel closer to centuries of accumulated Korean culture and art. Drawing on his refined expressive range and voice acting expertise honed over his career, he is projected to enhance the immersive experience of the Korean showcase at the global institution.

Lee Byung-hun shared the news of his involvement, saying, "I have taken part in narrating the Korean exhibition held at The British Museum in London." Expressing his anticipation for the showcase, he added, "Please show lots of interest, and I will see you in London."

Previously, Lee Byung-hun drew attention for his voice performance as the character Gwima in the Netflix animated film "KPop Demon Hunters." He also contributed to the audio guide for a special joint exhibition between the National Museum of Korea and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. At the time, he personally explained 30 major pieces, fine-tuning each sentence and pronunciation throughout the recording sessions to elevate the final quality.

Meanwhile, the "Korea: 2,000 Years of Creativity" exhibition, narrated by Lee Byung-hun, will run at The British Museum in London from October 1 to January 31, 2027.

Singer Lee Ki-chan, who earned massive popularity with his 2002 hit song "Cold," is staging unique busking performances across major pharmacies as this year's influenza outbreak spreads.

On September 19, Lee released "Cold" (2026), his first remake of the track in 24 years, and launched the "Pharmacy Busking Project" to commemorate the release of the new track. On his social media, he wrote, "Pharmacy Busking Project! Thank you to all the pharmacies that helped out. Also, is this really right?" adding, "Flu vaccination season has started! Please listen to 'Cold.'"

Under the banner of the "Pharmacy Busking Project," Lee has indeed been visiting and performing at numerous large-scale pharmacies, including Mega Factory Pharmacy branches in Seongnam, Gwanggyo, and Seoul; Boryung Pharmacy, Onyu Pharmacy, and Jongo Pharmacy in Jongno; Very New Pharmacy in Seongsu; Pharma Square in Guro; Pantheo Pharmacy and Red Hill in Gangnam; Very New Hongdae; and Medi-Kingdom Pharmacy in Yongsan.

YEONJUNG (27), a former member of I.O.I and current member of WJSN who has continuously showcased her potential by pushing her limits with every project, has been cast in the hit musical "Rebecca".

According to her agency, Starship Entertainment, on the 23rd, YEONJUNG has been cast in the musical "Rebecca", which opens on November 24 at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater in Seoul.

The musical "Rebecca" is based on the British author Daphne du Maurier's novel of the same name. Set in the Manderley estate, which is haunted by the memory of the late Rebecca, the story unfolds as a suspenseful tale intertwined with love, obsession, doubt, and secrets. Featuring a script by Michael Kunze and music by Sylvester Levay, the production delivers deep immersion. Since its world premiere in Vienna, Austria, in 2006, it has achieved global success, drawing over 2.8 million audience members across 15 countries. In South Korea, since its premiere in 2013, it has completed seven seasons, surpassed 1 million cumulative audience members, and won numerous awards, gaining recognition for both commercial success and artistic quality.

In this production, YEONJUNG will meet audiences in the role of "I", the narrator of the story. "I" is a pure and delicate character who becomes the new mistress of the Manderley estate after accidentally meeting Maxim, and gradually grows into a strong woman to protect him. YEONJUNG plans to vividly portray the character's internal transformation with her signature delicate vocals and deep emotional expression.

Having debuted in the musical "Lizzie" in 2022, YEONJUNG has since appeared in numerous works including "Crash Landing on You", "Aloha, My Moms", "The Great Comet", "Frida", "Sugar", and "Beethoven", proving her broad acting spectrum regardless of genre. She has been evaluated as firmly establishing herself as a "next-generation musical star" by heightening stage immersion with her powerful vocals and rich emotional acting, captivating audiences, and carving out her own unique presence.

SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White" (hereinafter "Doctor X: Mafia in White") has instantly heightened anticipation by releasing character posters of its four main leads.

i-dle's SOYEON has fulfilled her previous pledge to hold a vegetable mukbang after her first full-length album title track, "I'm gonna TOESA" (Narr. Kian84), claimed the number one spot on the MelOn TOP100 chart.

On the 22nd, SOYEON appeared on an i-dle official YouTube channel live broadcast and explained why she made the vegetable buffet mukbang pledge for topping the music charts, sharing, "I was so nervous hosting my first-ever radio host gig that I ended up talking nonsense. At the time, I honestly didn't think we would hit number one, so I just threw it out casually. But right after saying it, I got this anxious feeling thinking, 'Wait, this might actually make it to number one.'"

Known for her dislike of vegetables, SOYEON has previously made her strong preferences clear, even surprise-releasing the "Anti-Vegetable Song" last month.

SOYEON stated, "I naturally had to keep my number one pledge. I hate breaking promises more than anything in the world." She then took on a full course of vegetable-based dishes, starting with appetizers of broccoli with red chili paste, carrot and apple juice, chilled cucumber soup, fresh spring rolls, and witch soup, followed by the Moroccan home-style main dish, and finishing with desserts including carrot cake, freeze-dried vegetable chips, and green beans.

SOYEON had a particularly tough time with the chilled cucumber soup. She recalled, "When I was young and said I wanted to eat cold naengmyeon, my mom made me chilled cucumber soup instead," adding that she suffered the moment she took a bite and immediately reached for water, bringing laughter to viewers.

Towards the end of the broadcast, she also shared her thoughts on working on this album. SOYEON explained, "I had a lot of worries asking myself, 'Am I someone who can do well on my own?' While I felt confident producing for others, producing for myself felt overwhelming. I went out of my way to seek out composers with completely different styles, worked again with people I've collaborated with for a long time, and even tried making things completely by myself, going through various attempts."

Meanwhile, "I'm gonna TOESA" (Narr. Kian84) is the title track of SOYEON's first full-length album, "What a Wonderful Life", released on the 7th. With its relatable yet warm melody and honest lyrics, it has continued to receive steady love since its release as an anthem that resonates with office workers.

According to the latest chart released by Oricon on September 22 (dated September 21), &TEAM topped the Daily Album Ranking immediately upon the local release of their second Korean mini-album, "Mark on Me".

"Mark on Me" previously shot straight to No. 1 on the Hanteo Chart daily album ranking, selling 1,224,524 copies on its first day of release in Korea (September 8) alone. Its first-week sales reached 1,357,357 copies, surpassing the record set by their first Korean mini-album, "Back to Life" (1,222,022 copies). Starting with their third Japanese single "Go in Blind" released in April last year, followed by their first Korean mini-album "Back to Life," their third Japanese mini-album "We on Fire," and now "Mark on Me," &TEAM has scored four consecutive million-sellers, setting a new career high with every album release.

"Mark on Me" captures the story of the nine members seeking to leave an indelible mark on each other's destinies. The mini-album features a total of six tracks, including the titular title track, "Good Boy," "Love Jang," "Accelerate," "Empty," and "Night to howl!".

&TEAM premiered the performance of their b-side track "Good Boy (Japanese ver.)" at their "Mark on Me" showcase held at Tokyo Garden Theater on September 21, and released the digital track the following day, garnering an enthusiastic response from fans.

Actor Nana has taken on her first historical drama role since her debut, playing the character Hee-yeon in the Netflix series "The Scandal".

Released on the 18th, the Netflix series "The Scandal" (directed by Jung Ji-woo / written by Lee Seung-young, Ahn Hye-song) tells the story of Lady Cho (Son Ye-jin), a woman with exceptional talents who is constrained by the limitations placed on women in the Joseon Dynasty, Joseon's greatest playboy Cho-won (Ji Changwook), and a woman named Hee-yeon who gets caught up in their romantic wager.

Hee-yeon, played by Nana, is a young widow who lost her husband even before holding their wedding ceremony. She is a character who lives each day with total resignation in an era where she was not even permitted a life of her own for the sake of chastity and virtue. Though she initially tried not to give her heart to Cho-won when they first met, she showed signs of gradually wavering as their encounters continued. She portrayed the internal conflict between the life she has maintained and her newly sprouted emotions, such as hesitating and ultimately failing to send a reply letter to Cho-won.

In particular, viewers praised the mid-series scene where she delivers the line "I want to live," capturing the pivotal moment when she first desires a life she had previously given up on. Nana stepped through the character's progression, starting from a calm and frail Hee-yeon to gradually opening her heart and clearly revealing her growing desire for life.

However, aside from the plot itself, some critics pointed out that modern makeup elements that felt out of place in a historical setting—particularly Nana's heavily emphasized lips—detracted from their immersion in the story.

In response, Nana spoke out directly through her fan community on Bubble. She stated, "If my lips caused discomfort to viewers, that is my fault," adding, "I think my personal choice was a choice that did not suit me as an actor."

She continued, "I figured that fans who love me would find it painful to see harsh criticism directed at me, and that makes me feel even more sorry. I will work harder so that we can hear good things together in the future," showing a humble attitude in accepting the feedback.
