Lim Young-woong Swats Bugs & Hooks Fish as 'Island Hero' Tops Tuesday Ratings for Second Week
Island HeroSBS’ "Island Hero" extended its winning streak, ranking No. 1 among Tuesday variety shows for a second straight week.

Per Nielsen Korea, the Sept. 2 episode posted a 1.3% rating among adults 20?49, up from last week, while the Seoul metropolitan household rating climbed to 4.9%, No. 1 for Tuesday unscripted. The broadcast peaked at 6.1%.

The episode followed singer Lim Young-woong, science YouTuber “Orbit,” chef Lim Tae-hoon and actor Lee Yi-kyung through a day that put their friendship on full display. The night kicked off with a hilarious bug fiasco as insects swarmed the house. Lee and Orbit yelped, “Young-woong, there’s one on your back!” before Lee, half-laughing, half-crying, blurted, “I won’t wear socks―use mine to block them! My voice is gone!” Lee groaned that he’d rather face a wild animal “so I could grab a weapon,” while Orbit agreed, insisting he’d be fine with “a beast―like a cat,” cementing their “Scaredy Bros” status. Lim, meanwhile, stayed cool, scooping up the bugs by hand, and deadpanned, “In my world, these two are the abnormal ones,” sending everyone into stitches.

The next morning, Lim Tae-hoon laid out a hearty spread of pork belly kimchi fried rice and egg soup. Lim Young-woong volunteered for dish duty, leaning into his “reliable youngest” role, and Lee stacked a bigger hat over Lim’s cap for a warm bromance moment.

Then it was time for their first-ever fishing trip to stock up on food. “I’ve never fished before―I’m excited,” Lim admitted. Orbit teased, “When you pick up a new hobby, you go all in. You might spend every break out fishing.” Lim laughed, “There’s a reason I’ve avoided it this long―I’d get hooked.”

Still clumsy with the rod, Lim apologized to the ragworm bait―“Sorry, sorry”―and promptly landed rockfish after just two nibbles, pulling off a quick twofer. The village head marveled, “Lim’s got all the luck―even fishing luck.” Lim grinned, “I think I could survive if I were ever stranded now.”

As the day wound down, the foursome got candid about marriage. Asked by Lee, Lim said, “I’ve thought about it, but I want to marry late. I used to think 35, but right now I’m in no rush.” Chef Lim noted, “There’s a lot that’s great about marriage―two lives becoming one.” Lee joked, “Hearing that makes me jealous. I’m feeling the clock these days.” Orbit added, “Marriage is all about timing. When it’s right, you marry the person you’re with.”

The episode closed with a performance of "Island Hero"s theme song, "I Am HERO," grabbing viewers’ attention.

"Island Hero" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on SBS.
